What we collect — and what we don't.

This site is built to need almost nothing from you. No accounts, no cookies, and no tracking of your child. The only thing we measure is a lightweight, anonymous count of which pages get viewed and roughly how long they stay open — and even that is stripped of anything that could identify you or your kid. Here's exactly what that means, in plain language.

What we collect

On the parent site (beyondparentalcontrols.com) we use PostHog, a privacy-focused analytics tool, to record anonymous pageviews. For a given visit that means:

• The page you looked at — the path only (e.g. /research.html), never the part of the address that carries your answers (see below).
• Roughly how long the page was open — measured by pairing an anonymous “page viewed” event with a “page left” event, so we can see which pages hold attention. No identity is attached, and nothing tracks you from one visit to the next.
• How far down the page you scrolled — a single percentage (e.g. “reached 60%”), so we can tell which sections people actually read. It's just a number attached to the anonymous events above; it records nothing about what you clicked, typed, or selected.
• An approximate location — country, region, and city — estimated from your IP address. The IP itself is used only for that instant to make the estimate and is then discarded. We never store it.
• Basic technical details your browser sends automatically — browser name and version, operating system, device type, and screen size.
• The site that referred you, if any — with its query string removed.

That is the whole list. It's collected in aggregate to answer one question: which parts of this site are useful. It is never used to build a profile of you.

What we deliberately don't collect

• Your child's name, age, identity, devices, or any answer you type. The plan is generated in your browser, and your selections live only in the page's web address. We remove the query string — the part after the “?”, where the name and every choice live — before any analytics event is sent, so those details are never transmitted to us. The page title, which can contain your child's name, is dropped for the same reason.
• No cookies and no local storage. Analytics runs “cookieless,” so nothing is saved to your device and you are not linked from one visit to the next.
• No stored IP addresses. Used for a moment to estimate location, then discarded — never written down.
• No clicks, keystrokes, or form inputs. Automatic event capture is switched off, so what you type into the configurator — including your child's name — is never seen by our analytics.
• No accounts, logins, or email addresses. There is nothing to sign up for.
• No session recordings, heatmaps, or surveys.
• No advertising trackers, no data brokers, and no selling or renting of data. Ever.

The kid site collects nothing

The kid-facing roadmap (yourinternetroadmap.com) loads no analytics whatsoever — no PostHog, no cookies, nothing. It is deliberately a separate site that measures nothing, so a child reading their own roadmap is not tracked in any way.

“Do Not Track” is honored

If your browser sends a Do Not Track signal, we capture nothing at all — no pageview, no location, nothing.

Who processes this data

• PostHog — our analytics provider. Anonymous pageview data is processed and stored on PostHog's US cloud, and the project is configured to discard IP addresses at the point of collection. See PostHog's privacy policy.
• Vercel — hosts the site's static files. As with any web host, Vercel's infrastructure handles standard server request logs to deliver pages and protect against abuse. See Vercel's privacy policy.

We don't share your data with anyone beyond these providers, who act on our behalf to run the site.

Children's privacy

This site is written for parents, and it is designed specifically to avoid collecting information about children. The details you enter about your kid stay in your browser and never leave your device except inside a link that you choose to copy and share. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Your choices

Because there are no accounts and nothing that identifies you, there is no personal profile to access, correct, or delete — the analytics is anonymous and aggregate by design. If you would still rather send nothing, turn on Do Not Track, or block the analytics domain (us.i.posthog.com) with any ad- or tracker-blocker. The site works exactly the same either way.

Changes to this policy

If we ever change what we collect, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
